Court Hearing Held For Members of Arman Student Organization

The court hearing was held for Ghader Nowruzi, who was the secretary of the banned Arman Student Organization in the Tabriz Azad University.

RAHANA: Azeri student activist, Ghader Nowruzi was present at the first branch of the Tabriz Revolutionary Court on Saturday, July 24thand responded to Judge Hamlbar’s questions.

Accroding to Savalan Sasi, Nowruzi has been charged with anti-regime propaganda for a publication that allegedly belonged to the Arman Student Organization.

The security authorities prohibited the “Women roles in Azerbaijan Social Movements” issue of a publication in a Marand printing shop from being published in February of 2010. It allegedly belonged to the Arman Student Organization. A seminar with this topic was to be held in Tabriz Azad University on the International Women’s Day.

There have also been reports that a court hearing has been held for another member of the Arman Student Organization, Fatemeh Nasirpour, and two of the print shop owners, Siamak and Babak Panahi. They have all been charged with anti-regime propaganda.

The pressure on the Azeri student organizations has significantly increased in the recent years to the extent that almost all student publications and organizations have been banned.
