RAHANA: Mostafaei’s family members have been detained in order to put him under pressure. Lawyers and human rights activists are following their case but they have not received a proper response from the authorities.

According to the RAHANA reporter, Fereshteh Halimi, his wife, and Farhad Halimi, his brother in law, have not contacted their family since their detainment and their family is concerned as to their condition.

It appears that his wife and his brother in law are being held as “hostages” in order to detain Mostafaei.

 On Sunday, Mostafaei was summoned to the court for a second time. Later in the afternoon, the security authorities went to Mostafae’s office with an arrest warrant but he was not present. They arrested his wife and brother in law later that night.

During the past year, family members of political and civil rights activists have been detained numerous times in order to put them under pressure.     

Mohammad Mostafaei has represented many juveniles on death row. He was recently involved in the case of Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, a woman sentenced to death by stoning.
