RAHANA- In this face-to-face prison visit, Mohammad Reza Jalaeipour told his wife’s parents that he had spent the 40 days of solitary confinement inside solitary cells of Evin ward 340 and in a harsh condition.
According to JARAS, after this visit, Fatemeh Shams’ parents said that Mohammad Reza Jalaeipour, an elite student of Oxford University was in a good general condition, but had lost some weight in detention.
In this prison visit, Mrs Shams family gave some money, food items and a number of books to Jalaeipour, who has been deprived of receiving such items from his family during the first 45 days in detention.
Also in this prison visit, Jalaeipour said he had been charged with “disturbing public opinion”, but he has not accepted any of these charges and told his interrogators that after his release in Summer 2009, he has not done anything thay would have disturbed public opinion.
Mohammad Reza Jalaeipour was first arrested at Imam Khomaini Airport in Tehran while leaving Tehran to the UK together with his wife early after June 2009 presidential election, and was released on 12 September 2009 after spending 88 days in the solitary and being acquitted of all charges. He was once again arrested on 14 June 2010 when he had visited Zarrabkhaneh Mosque in Tehran as ordered by interrogators to receive his previously confiscated passport, and his father’s house was completely investigated by security agents. During his detention in Evin prison, only his mother was granted a prison visit on Wednesday 7 July 2010.
