Hoda Saber Makes First Phone Call from Evin Prison

30 , July , 2010

Hoda Saber, a national-religious activist who had been disappeared since July 24 after leaving his work place, contacted his family and lawyer on Thursday July 29.

Dr. Mohammad Sharif, the lawyer of Hoda Saber said: “Mr Saber is currently detained in the quarantine section of Evin, and would most probably be transferred to the public ward tomorrow”.

According to RAHANA’s reporter, Hoda Saber has been disappeared after he left his office on Saturday afternoon, July 25. Security agents had also inspected his house twice last week but she was not present at her office at the time.

National-religious activist Dr. Sharif said the reasons of his arrest are unknown and added: “This detention may have been carried out due to Saber’s previous case.” He also expressed hopes that the recent arrest was related to his solitary cells.

Mr. Sharif was hopeful that Hoda Saber would be transferred to the public ward of Evin ward 240 within a few day.

Hoda Saber was arrested in 2001 and sentenced to prison during the  case of national-religious activists, and the lower court’s bill had remained silent since 2002, therefore, Mr. Sharif thinks Hoda Saber’s recent arrest may be related to that case.
